Oxbow’s Kindle the Fire and today’s UT

Postby JTracyII » Sat Oct 20, 2018 9:41 pm

I don’t always post as much as I used to on this forum, but I ran Kindle in Utility today and had to brag a little on her to people who are in the know about this stuff. First off, she has truly been the easiest dog I’ve had to train and I expect will take me on many good hunts in the field. She did as good a job on ducks last season at her ripe age of 8 months as one can expect. She retrieved some geese this season running down a very much alive goose and 3 dead ones and bringing to hand. Anyway, at only 1 year and 7 months old she earned a 201 Pts. Prize 1 today, showing just how trainable and early maturing she has been. Got 4’s across the board with a ding in retrieve of shot bird only due to me needing to give a command on a retrieve as it looked like to me she was heading for another person. She came to me on command and delivered bird. She also paraded a little with another. She is very strong in the water and showed her stuff at the duck search. I was proud to see her do her thing when it counted. You just never know if they might not show up as usual, but today she did.

Congratulations. You did your homework on her breeding. Consistently worked her properly from the beginning. You worked hard. And your a smart trainer. Can’t wait to hunt with her.

Thanks for all of the kind words. It would have been more difficult to accomplish without Klocke (Kyle) and Jfwhit (Jeff). They were over at my house many weekends helping out. Also, I can't forget Jay Hoth, Coveyrise (Terrry) and the Navhda chapter for there assistance as well. Also, Calvin Harpe who produced her deserves much credit. He has been a great mentor for me with her and with my decision to join NAPPA and get a kennel name, Cross Timber Gundogs. Lastly, I also must thank my first PP, Finn. Even though he was not a dog worthy of breeding, he was my first PP/NAVHDA dog to train to the UT level. He earned a UT Prize 3 while racking up 190 Pts a couple of years ago. He taught me a lot about dog training that prepared me for working with Kindle who has been much easier to train. If I got her first I would have learned a lot less about training dogs.... :D

I am strongly considering going to the Invitational to see if she can earn the VC. We will see how things go. For now, I am going to focus on hunting and enjoy myself and my dog.
