Training Day

Postby AverageGuy » Mon May 21, 2018 9:03 pm

Spud and I attended a training day yesterday at the grounds where the 2018 Invitational will be run. Thought it might interest some folks to see the grounds. Good time watching French Brittany, GSP, ES, DD, GWP, PP, WPG and illustrates how easy it is to get eyes on numerous breeds of dogs. Calvinator, if you are reading, there was a 13 month old pup out of your kennel there. Nice pup all around.

At that age I bet it was a littermate to my K litter pup from Calvin. I’ve got to say that I am very happy with this pup thus far. It was a small litter. Was it a male or female?

AG, Spuds a very good looking dog. What's litter and kennel is he out of if you don't mind me asking? Who knows, my Hazel girl might be looking for boyfriend in a couple years.

Thank you Ryan. Spud is out of KJ's Tater dog and her X litter (Bone Point Kennel).

Oh, I've long liked Tater's looks and description on KJ's site. She just looks very intense and striking. Her sire is actually one of my Hazel's grandsire.

Hey Ryan, Speaking of NAVHDA. If you google Tater's registered name on the website you can see all of her offsprings' test results. (Sure you have used that feature.) Lots of her puppies/dogs have tested well across several different stud dogs. So have her littermate sister's offspring. Gets a guy's attention and makes a good case for the key purpose of NAVHDA testing and database. Spud's littermates have done extremely well. Which was a point 3Ds made in another thread relative to looking at how closely related dogs do being extremely key information on genetics vs just the single dog...

Yup, I looked and I surf that feature on the NAVHDA site a lot.

He looks great!

You're right, Tater is putting out some very nice offspring. Get's a gut thinking about his next dog.

Something else that doesn’t show up in test scores is temperament beyond what you read on the score card, “normal.” All of Kelly’s dogs are what you want to own and live with. Tater is a real people dog, sweetest thing you ever met. The kind of dog you want pups from.

I recently had the opportunity to acquire one of her off-spring, also from the X litter and that describes her to a tee. She has the drive of a velociraptor, but is an absolute sweetheart with every person or dog she meets.

Yep, Aggie. I hope she likes hunting ruffed grouse, because that's most of what she will be doing for a while. So far, she seems to like the woods just fine. She's a joy in the house as well and I am very happy with her. She's been great with my two retirees and my Three Devil's dog (and grouse pointer extraordinaire) thinks she's pretty swell too.
