Baseball

I have a 6 month lab that has the hand signals, whistle, and voice commands down. I am having trouble getting him to retrieve with the hand signal or whistle from side to side and backwards. I throw the Bumpers at 1st base and 3rd base and he always goes for first every time no matter what order I throw them any help would be helpful.

Thank you,
Brian

Well a pup that is six months old is a little young to start doing blinds with. I would probley do some walking baseball. You want to use low cover so that you always know where the bumper is so you can handle the pup to it and the pup has success by following your hand signals. Sit pup in front of you about 5 feet away. Throw a bumper to your left side throwing it a good distance away. Then throw one back behind the pup with the bumper going at a right angle. Handle your pup to first bumper throw, the one on the left. When the pup gets it re-site the pup in front of you and throw it in another direction. Send the pup for the other second bumper you threw.. Repeat this six to eight times moving around the field so bumpers land in different places, keep it fun, the pup will have by taking your casts. Remember you have a young dog there be patient. Looks like he is off to a good start.
