Old Dogs, New tricks

Can you train an older dog? My lab points on instinct but i was wondering about retrieving and other reactions he might have. He is not full lab and is about 6.5 or 7 years old.

Old dogs, new tricks is a wive's tale. Old dogs are trainable if they have been taught how to learn. Unfortunately, if your dog had retrieving instincts you would already know. Throw a ball and see what happens.
